This video shows you how you can decorate a box using old pictures and calendars. It gives you tips on how to use the box. This activity is good to practice: your creative and fine motor skills, following and giving instructions and making choices. At the moment lots of people are struggling to understand that their normal routines are changing. Just telling someone they aren't going to be doing what they normally do next isn't always enough to help them understand. Now/next/then boards can help show what the new routine is visually. The person can keep referring back to it, and can clearly see the routine rather than try and imagine it from what you have said. You can make lots of pictures to represent activities, stick velcro on to the back of the picture and move them around, depending on the routine that day. Make sure you use pictures that makes sense to the person, and make it interesting for them to look at without being distracting. You can just make it a Now/Next board if 3 activities is too much for someone to deal with. ![]()
How and why it is good to take deep breaths to help you get and stay well. These are for anyone to do but you can get some more help and advice from your local Physiotherapy team.

Some of the exercises are weight optional, if you don’t have weights you can use tins of beans or bottles of water etc. If the pace of the session is to quick feel free to pause as required. PNF is a way for support staff/ family to help individuals to give their arms and legs a good stretch while reinforcing helpful movement patterns by encouraging brain signals to be sent from the skin to the brain and back to the muscle. This helps promote movement and relax tight muscles when it’s done on a regular basis.
