Here is a new general exercise session, enjoy!
This session will consist of a short warm up, followed by 4 exercises and a cool down. Exercises are Shoulder press, Sit-ups, Bend over row and Sit to stands. The exercises are performed standing except for the sit ups where you will need a flat soft surface and the sit to stand where you will need a sturdy chair. Some of the exercises require weights if you don’t have weights you can use bottles of water or food tins. This session consists of a short warm up, followed by 4 exercises and a cool down. Exercises are Shoulder Press, Single Leg Extensions, Bent over row, and Overhead to Toes. All the exercises are done whilst in sitting, a suitable sturdy chair is required. Some of the exercises are weight optional, if you don’t have weights you can use tins of beans or bottles of water etc. This is a video created by our physiotherapy students to demonstrate how your carer can help you to stretch your arms and legs. This exercise is great if you find these movements difficult to do yourself, as it shows your carer where to hold your arms and legs to make sure it is comfortable for both of you.

Individuals with reduced mobility often spend a large amount of time in a static seated position. This often has a detrimental effect on bowel function. These passive exercises will help to move an individuals abdomen which will assist in bowel functioning and may help.

Mindful activities can help us feel calm. Find a quiet place to watch it. It is a video of a walk around Tinkinswood archeological site, near Cardiff. Always follow Public Health Wales guidelines if you go out into the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. This exercise requires some balance, strength and suppleness.
